The 3B’s Research Group (Biomaterials, Biodegradable and Biomimetics) at the University of Minho focuses on the scientific area of development of biomaterials, human tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and nanomedicine, coordinating and participating in several national and international projects in this scope. In the ALGAVALOR project in particular, 3B’s Group coordinates work package 3: Microalgae in Natural Cosmetics, and it is responsible for evaluating the bioactivity of microalgae and cyanobacteria extracts in in vitro and ex vivo models of human skin, so as to identify their cosmeceutical potential.
