Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA)

The Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) is one of the faculties of the University of Lisbon. Its main mission is Higher Education, Research & Development, and Technology Transfer in the domains of Agronomic Sciences, and Zootechnical, Forestry, Food and Environment Engineering, as well as Landscape Architecture and Biology. The Center for Research in Agronomy, Food, Environment and Landscape (LEAF – Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food) focuses its research on the Agro-Food chain, combining basic and applied sciences, from the cell and microorganisms to the landscape, in favor of knowledge and the promotion of effective solutions aimed at the conservation of natural resources and the increase of food production and quality. LEAF is also committed to postgraduate training, innovation, technology transfer, internationalization and the dissemination of knowledge. To meet these challenges, it is organized into four Research Groups that are interconnected in five thematic lines. ISA is involved in work package 2 of ALGAVALOR, in assays to analyze the digestibility and growth of piglets that underwent a microalgae inclusion in their diet.
